One-Off designs

The design activity of BCA - Demco began since the early years of the life of the company but it has been very gradual in its development. In a first phase it was limited to small boats whose plans were added in our catalog to the many stock plans of foreign designers that then we represented in Italy (such as Bruce Kirby, Iain Oughtred, Woods Catamaran, Laurent Giles Ltd and others). Over the years, our plans have come to prevail, both in number and in terms of sales, compared to those of foreign designers and so they now account for almost all of the plans we offer. Designing boats and yachts for private clients and for boatyards came as a development of our experience in designing for amateur boat builders. In many cases it has been a direct consequence of good relations established with clients who had built boats of our catalog and appreciated the quality of our service.

This sector has developed in recent years and it is our intention to extend it further.

To our customers we can offer a particular specialization on wood construction, as we know and have directly experienced all the most advanced techniques related to the use of this material, which remains, in our opinion, the most suitable for the realization of one-off high quality boats.

We have good experience with fiberglass and other composite materials, having followed directly the construction of racing yachts in these materials. We do not have, at the moment, any particular experience in metal boat building.

With regard to the type of boat, our interest is focused on the sail boats, with a very wide range of experiences and projects, from racing to cruising, from monohull to multihull, from dinghies to yachts of medium to large size. We are less active in motor yachts design, but also in this field we may show off some interesting realizations in the field of motor boats of small and medium size.

Finally we report that since the beginning of its activity, BCA- Demco has followed with particular attention, both from a technical and from a cultural point of view, the sector of classic yachts and traditional boats, which, together with our knowledge in the field of wood, makes us particularly prepared for dealing with restoration of old boats and construction of replicas of classic yachts.

You can see a small gallery of the latest projects designed for private clients and for boatyards.
